As energy performance becomes an increasingly important part of development, proper energy modeling can help demonstrate compliance, support approvals, and potentially unlock valuable zoning benefits.

Many projects are already close to meeting DOB and NYC Energy Conservation Code requirements. With the right modeling, documentation, and validation, those projects may be able to show compliance without major design changes or significant added construction costs.

Projects that demonstrate at least 15% energy cost savings compared to the baseline may qualify for a 5% additional Floor Area Ratio (FAR) under applicable NYC zoning provisions. That additional buildable area can meaningfully increase the value and potential of a development.
